Shoring Complete! Next Up - Concrete!
The site has completed installing all soldier piles!
As you probably saw, there was a drill rig on our site that drilled the piles into the ground, while simultaneously, an excavator dug to the bottom of the site's grade.
While the excavator was digging and removing dirt from the site, the shoring sub began installing 2x12 and 4x12 pressure treated plywood along with the interior and/or exterior face of the pile, to complete the temp shoring installation.
The plywood acts as a wall that the concrete sub will shoot shotcrete too. The shotcrete wall will make up the perimeter garage walls; there is one level of below-grade parking, providing a pet wash, trash room, and (35) parking stalls.
The site reached the bottom of the hole around Christmas time and the concrete phase began 1/4/21.
The concrete phase consistent of and not limited to:
- Mass ex for footings
- Below grade utilities
- Tower crane install
- Form work
- Rebar
- Shotcrete
- PT cables
- (3) major pour days, with columns, walls, and other misc. pours
- MEPF roughin
As of 1/13/21, we have excavated the South and East perimeter footings, columns, and installed the tower crane base.
The tower crane is slated for erection 1/20/21 - which will close 68th street down (except the to single-family home resident and residents of the apartment complex/garage entry), and a noise variance, permitting work to begin at 5am and end by 7pm (lights will be on until the sun comes up).
